Cardiocore VP, Medical Operations Addresses Cardiac Data for Oncology Drugs

Washington, DC – 09.January.2009 – Cardiocore, a premier centralized cardiac testing lab, announced today that its chief medical officer Dr. Lawrence Satin, MD, FACC, will co-chair the Cardiac Safety Assessment Summit on January 12-13, 2009 in Vienna, Virginia.


Dr. Satin, one of the world’s leading research cardiologists and a pioneer in cardiac safety testing for clinical trials, will chair the conference with Corina-Dana Dota, MD, who provides scientific expertise and leadership for the AstraZeneca ECG Centre in Molndal, Sweden and is co-chair of AstraZeneca´s QT/Arrhythmia Safety Knowledge Group. The summit’s advisory board also includes Andrew Erdman, MD, chair of Genentech’s QT Advisory Group, and Philip Sager, MD, chief medical officer of CardioDx and former AstraZeneca executive director of cardiovascular research.


At the meeting, Cardiocore vice president of medical operations, Dr. Polina Voloshko will discuss regulatory expectations on QT sudy design and ECG data submission for oncology treatments, and Dr. Satin will present “Evaluation of Drugs that Increase or Decrease Heart Rate.” Summit attendees will discover how natural heart rate variations change study subjects’ QT intervals and will learn about advanced methodologies to ensure that variability does not distort study results.
